Another season of VDR has started the Razors Edge boys rolled into Wards Creek MX park about 4PM Saturday afternoon very excited and a little nervous. The weather was iffy to say the least but the rain held off as we set up camp for the season opener on Sunday. We owe a big thank you to Bob (track owner) for helping us out of a jam, Yours truly makes a rookie mistake and left my gear at home (in Bellingham WA). Bob contacted Alfie's DK Performance in Aberdeen WA and hooked me up. Please read the article about Alfie's. After returning from my adventure we enjoyed a fantastic BBQ roast prepared by Jay and Judy, visited with old friends and made a few new ones.
We woke to a gray damp cold morning. First practice was a little rough the back side of the track had several loamy turns. About half way through the practice groups they rerouted the track removing a few of the turns (wooo hooo). Second practice was much better. They posted the race order Jay drew race 13 and 3 for me. The sky cleared off and it started warming up it had the makings of a great day of racing. The VDR crew laid out a fast track with one jump and four nice hills two up and two down and great corners down in the flats.
My first race got a 7th place finish (Hey I finished) and the feelings came rushing back of why I love to do this.
Jay had a little better luck than I did, after saying he was just going to putt around the track cause he just wanted to finish he took first place.
The day seemed to move quickly and we enjoyed watching some great racing, visited with friends a great time was had by all.
My second race netted me a 5th for 6th over all in the -40 EVO class. As for our boy Jay he was amped and ready for his second moto. After leading everyone (including two really quick kids in another class) for two laps Jay once again placed first in the four stroke EVO class a first for him.
It was a great day of racing and we look forward to next year. See everyone at Woodland on 10/22/05 for the next race, enjoy the pictures we will be posting more soon!
